Corsica is the most dramatic charter ground in France and the least sheltered. Ajaccio and Propriano sit on the west coast, Bonifacio on its limestone cliffs at the southern tip and Porto-Vecchio on the east.
From Ajaccio the Scandola nature reserve and the Gulf of Porto lie north; from Bonifacio the Lavezzi islands are an afternoon and Sardinia two hours across the strait. The season runs May to October.
The weather decides the week. The mistral can blow for days on the west coast and through the Strait of Bonifacio in spring and autumn, so an itinerary here is a plan to be changed rather than a schedule.
