Saint-Quay-Portrieux is a fishing and resort port on the north coast of Brittany, in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, and its deep-water marina — one of the few on this coast accessible at all states of the tide — holds a charter fleet for the Channel coast: the Île de Bréhat and the Trieux river to the west, Saint-Malo and the Rance to the east, and the Channel Islands a day’s sail north. Saint-Brieuc station has TGVs from Paris in 2 h 15; Saint-Quay is 25 minutes by taxi or bus. By road. The N12 exit Saint-Brieuc, then the coast road; paid parking at the marina.
Saint-Quay-Portrieux before you cast off
The old fishing port of Portrieux and the beaches of Saint-Quay; the pink-granite coast at Perros-Guirec is an hour west, Saint-Brieuc 20 minutes, the walled town of Saint-Malo an hour and a half east. Bréhat is the first island of the week.
