Phuket is the charter capital of South-East Asia: the marinas on its east coast — Ao Po, Yacht Haven, Boat Lagoon, Royal Phuket — hold the region’s fleet, with Phang Nga Bay’s limestone towers an hour away and the Phi Phi islands, Koh Lanta and the Similans for a week. The north-east monsoon from November to April is the season: dry, sunny and a steady breeze; the south-west monsoon from May to October brings rain and swell on the west coast.

Can I take a boat out for just one day?
Yes — 11 boats here accept a single-day booking, and 12 take two days. A day rate is quoted for the specific boat and date, so pick your day on the boat’s own page and the price comes back live.
What is not in the price?
The figure is for the boat. Transit log, tourist tax and the APA are mandatory, set per boat, and paid at the base. Skipper, hostess, extra equipment and other services are optional and also settled at the base.
Why do some boats show no price?
20 of the 29 boats in Phuket are on request — usually larger or crewed yachts, where the rate depends on the week and the crew. They are left out of every figure above.
How far is the airport from Phuket?
The nearest airport is Phuket Airport (HKT), about 15 km away as the crow flies; Krabi Airport (KBV) is about 60 km. Transfer times by road are longer; most charter companies arrange a transfer to the base on request.
Do I need a licence to charter bareboat in Thailand?
A recognised skipper’s certificate and a sailing résumé are required for a bareboat; most charters in Phuket are skippered or crewed, with nothing required of the guests. A skipper is booked as an extra on the boat page.
When is the season in Phuket?
November to April — the north-east monsoon — is dry with a steady breeze and calm seas on the east coast and the islands; May to October is the wet season with swell on the west coast, when Phang Nga Bay is still sheltered.
