Kavala is the port of eastern Macedonia on the northern Aegean, with a charter fleet in its marina below the old town and the island of Thasos an afternoon’s sail across the strait. The cruising ground is the quietest in Greece: Thasos, Samothraki, Limnos and the Chalkidiki peninsulas, with few charter boats and a milder meltemi than the Cyclades.

What is not in the price?
The figure is for the boat. Transit log, tourist tax and the APA are mandatory, set per boat, and paid at the base. Skipper, hostess, extra equipment and other services are optional and also settled at the base.

5 of the 26 boats in Kavala are on request — usually larger or crewed yachts, where the rate depends on the week and the crew. They are left out of every figure above.

Do I need a licence to charter bareboat in Greece?
Yes. Greek rules require a recognised skipper’s certificate and a second crew member with sailing experience declared on the crew list; the base checks the papers at handover. Without them, a skipper is booked as an extra on the boat page.
What day do charters start?
Weekly charters run Saturday to Saturday: handover from 17:00 on Saturday, return to the base by the evening before and check-out by 9:00 on Saturday morning. Day charters start in the morning from the same quays.
