Lavrion is the port at the south-eastern tip of Attica, fifteen minutes from Athens airport and the closest charter base to the Cyclades: Kea is two hours away, Kythnos four, and Syros, Mykonos and Paros are a day. The fleet is at Olympic Marina, a full-service marina south of the town, and along the main port quay in the town itself.
It is the base for crews who want the Cyclades rather than the Saronic, and for anyone flying into Athens who does not want to cross the city. The meltemi blows hard here from mid-June to mid-September; June and September are the months to plan around it.

Getting there
By air. Athens Airport (ATH) is about 30 km — 25–35 minutes by taxi or transfer, the shortest airport transfer of any Greek charter base. By road. From Athens on the Attiki Odos and the Lavrion road, about an hour; paid parking inside Olympic Marina and along the port. By bus. KTEL buses from Athens (Pedion Areos) to Lavrion port run through the day.
Lavrion before you cast off
The temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion is 10 km south, best at sunset; Lavrion itself was a silver-mining town with a small archaeological museum and a neoclassical waterfront of tavernas by the ferry quay. Athens is an hour by road.
Supermarkets in the town within a short walk of the port quay; Olympic Marina has a mini-market, chandlery and fuel dock, and a large supermarket is on the road between the two.
A week from Lavrion
Saturday — Lavrion → Kea, Vourkari (14 nm). A short first leg to the yacht harbour of Vourkari on Kea and its waterfront tavernas.
Sunday — Kea → Kythnos, Loutra (20 nm). South to Kythnos: the marina at Loutra with its hot springs, or the double bay of Kolona.
Monday — Kythnos → Syros (22 nm). East to Ermoupoli, the Cyclades’ capital, moored on the town quay under two hills.
