Lavrion is the port at the south-eastern tip of Attica, fifteen minutes from Athens airport and the closest charter base to the Cyclades: Kea is two hours away, Kythnos four, and Syros, Mykonos and Paros are a day. The fleet is at Olympic Marina, a full-service marina south of the town, and along the main port quay in the town itself.
It is the base for crews who want the Cyclades rather than the Saronic, and for anyone flying into Athens who does not want to cross the city. The meltemi blows hard here from mid-June to mid-September; June and September are the months to plan around it.

Lavrion before you cast off
The temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion is 10 km south, best at sunset; Lavrion itself was a silver-mining town with a small archaeological museum and a neoclassical waterfront of tavernas by the ferry quay. Athens is an hour by road.
Supermarkets in the town within a short walk of the port quay; Olympic Marina has a mini-market, chandlery and fuel dock, and a large supermarket is on the road between the two.

How much does a yacht charter in Lavrion cost?
Day rates on the boats listed here start from €162 and the typical boat is around €449 per day; a week (7 nights) starts from €1,140. Prices are the boats’ own listed rates; fuel, marina fees on the route and local taxes are paid separately.
What kinds of boats can I charter in Lavrion?
243 boats are available to book in Lavrion: 159 sailing boats, 70 catamarans, 10 motor boats, 3 motor yachts and 1 gulet. The most common models are Hanse 418, Lagoon 42, Oceanis 46.1, Hanse 508.
Which marinas do charters leave from in Lavrion?
Charters in Lavrion leave from 3 bases: Lavrion Main Port (119 boats), Olympic Marina (117 boats), Lavrion Marina (7 boats).
Can I take a boat out for just one day?
Yes — 18 boats here accept a single-day booking. A day rate is quoted for the specific boat and date, so pick your day on the boat’s own page and the price comes back live.
What is not in the price?
The figure is for the boat. Transit log, tourist tax and the APA are mandatory, set per boat, and paid at the base. Skipper, hostess, extra equipment and other services are optional and also settled at the base.
Why do some boats show no price?
36 of the 243 boats in Lavrion are on request — usually larger or crewed yachts, where the rate depends on the week and the crew. They are left out of every figure above.
How far is the airport from Lavrion?
The nearest airport is Athens Airport (ATH), about 25 km away as the crow flies; Mykonos Airport (JMK) is about 120 km. Transfer times by road are longer; most charter companies arrange a transfer to the base on request.
Do I need a licence to charter bareboat in Greece?
Yes. Greek rules require a recognised skipper’s certificate and a second crew member with sailing experience declared on the crew list; the base checks the papers at handover. Without them, a skipper is booked as an extra on the boat page.
What day do charters start?
Weekly charters run Saturday to Saturday: handover from 17:00 on Saturday, return to the base by the evening before and check-out by 9:00 on Saturday morning. Day charters start in the morning from the same quays.
Why start from Lavrion rather than Athens?
Lavrion is fifteen minutes from the airport and forty miles closer to the Cyclades: Kea is two hours away and the central islands a day, without the Saronic and Sounion in between.
When is the meltemi strongest?
From mid-July to the end of August, when force six to seven is normal in the central Cyclades and force eight arrives in spells; June and September are gentler and the sea is warm.
