Pula is Istria’s port and charter base, at the southern tip of the peninsula: Marina Veruda in a long, sheltered inlet south of the city and the ACI marina in the harbour under the Roman amphitheatre. The cruising ground is the Kvarner gulf — the Brijuni islands just outside, then Cres, Lošinj, Unije and Susak — with Venice and the Slovenian coast to the north for longer charters.
Istria is the choice for crews driving from Italy, Austria and Germany, and Pula’s airport has direct summer flights from across Europe. Distances between islands are longer than in Dalmatia and the bora is strongest here in spring and autumn; June to September is the season.

The Istrian Y motorway ends at Pula; the marinas are signposted from the city. Parking for the week is inside Marina Veruda or arranged through the charter company. By ferry and bus. Pula before you cast off
The amphitheatre is the sixth-largest surviving Roman arena and stands right on the harbour; the temple of Augustus and the triumphal arch are in the old town behind it. The Brijuni national park is a boat trip from Fažana, or a first night’s anchorage for a charter. Rovinj, an hour north, is the prettiest town in Istria for a day before departure.
Supermarkets are close to both marinas and the city market is in the centre; Marina Veruda has a shop, restaurants and a fuel dock. Fuel in the city harbour is at the ACI marina.

How much does a yacht charter in Pula cost?
Day rates on the boats listed here start from €82 and the typical boat is around €218 per day; a week (7 nights) starts from €576. Prices are the boats’ own listed rates; fuel, marina fees on the route and local taxes are paid separately.
What kinds of boats can I charter in Pula?
118 boats are available to book in Pula: 63 sailing boats, 33 motor boats and 22 catamarans. The most common models are Sun Odyssey 349, Sun Odyssey 440, Leidi 660, First 35.
Which marinas do charters leave from in Pula?
Charters in Pula leave from 5 bases: Tehnomont Marina Veruda (55 boats), Marina Polesana (42 boats), ACI Marina Pula (11 boats), Fažana (6 boats), Trget Port (4 boats).
Can I take a boat out for just one day?
Yes — 37 boats here accept a single-day booking. A day rate is quoted for the specific boat and date, so pick your day on the boat’s own page and the price comes back live.
What is not in the price?
The figure is for the boat. Transit log, tourist tax and the APA are mandatory, set per boat, and paid at the base. Skipper, hostess, extra equipment and other services are optional and also settled at the base.
Why do some boats show no price?
25 of the 118 boats in Pula are on request — usually larger or crewed yachts, where the rate depends on the week and the crew. They are left out of every figure above.
How far is the airport from Pula?
The nearest airport is Pula Airport (PUY), about 10 km away as the crow flies; Rijeka Airport (RJK) is about 70 km. Transfer times by road are longer; most charter companies arrange a transfer to the base on request.
Do I need a licence to charter bareboat in Croatia?
Yes. Croatia requires a skipper’s licence recognised by the Croatian authorities plus a VHF radio certificate; both are checked at the base before departure. Without them, a skipper is booked as an extra on the boat page and joins you at the marina.
What day do charters start?
Weekly charters run Saturday to Saturday. Boats are handed over from 17:00 on Saturday and returned by 9:00 the following Saturday; day charters start in the morning from the same pontoons.
How far is Pula from the islands?
Further than in Dalmatia: Brijuni is an hour, but Unije, Lošinj and Cres are three to five hours across the Kvarner gulf, so a week from Pula has one or two longer legs.
