Getting there
By air. Preveza (Aktion) Airport (PVK) is about 6 km from the town across the Aktion tunnel — 10–15 minutes by taxi. By road. From Athens about four hours via the Rio–Antirrio bridge and the Ionian motorway; parking along the quay and in the town. By bus. KTEL coaches from Athens, Ioannina and Lefkada stop at Preveza bus station.
Preveza before you cast off
Preveza is a low-key town of cafés along the waterfront and a lively fish market; the ruins of Nikopolis, Octavian’s victory city, are 8 km north. The Ambracian gulf behind the town is a wetland of pelicans and dolphins for a calm first afternoon; Parga and its castle are 45 minutes up the coast.
Supermarkets and the fish market are within a short walk of the quay; fuel is delivered to the quay by tanker.
