Motor boats in Italy
Motor boats in Italy are the day-charter fleet of the Amalfi coast, Capri, Sardinia and the lakes. From Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Salerno the boats are gozzi, the open wooden or fibreglass day boats of the coast, and RIBs, mostly hired with a skipper for Capri, the Li Galli islands and the Amalfi grottoes. Sardinia and Sicily hire RIBs and small cabin boats by the day; on Lake Como, Garda and Maggiore small motorboats go out from the lake towns. Italy lets a boat of up to 40 horsepower be driven without a licence, which is why the licence-free fleet is so large.
Prices are per day with or without skipper; fuel is usually extra and paid on return.
