Catamarans in Croatia
Croatia carries the largest catamaran fleet in the Mediterranean, and almost all of it sits in central Dalmatia: Sukošan, Kaštela, Trogir and Split account for most of the boats above. The islands are close together and the summer maestral is a moderate afternoon breeze, so a catamaran's shallow draught and stable platform count for more here than its speed: it anchors in bays a keelboat has to leave, and a family with small children has a boat that stays level at the buoy.
Lagoon models dominate; Bali, Fountaine Pajot, Nautitech and Leopard make up most of the rest, from four-cabin 40-footers to six-cabin boats with crew quarters. Marinas charge multihulls a surcharge on the berth, which is one reason a Croatian catamaran week leans on anchorages and buoys. Bareboat needs an ICC or equivalent and a VHF certificate; a skipper or hostess is booked as an extra on the boat page and joins at the base.
